The Journey of a Home Purchase (part 3)

So, it’s the long awaited day of our tour of the houses in Drumright.

On our way, I told my husband, “You know, I had a nightmare last night that I fell in love with one of these places, and you told me I couldn’t have it because it didn’t have internet.”

Let’s be honest, the internet thing is kind of a deal-breaker for two people who make their green working from home.

It was the #1 qualifier for any property we purchased.

When we went into the first house, my reaction when I walked in was “Wow. The pictures don’t represent this house well at all”.

And that’s nothing against the photographer - the house just doesn’t photo well (kinda like me before I’ve had my morning cup of Joe. Girl - I gotta have a full blow-out, a face full of Kylie Jenner spackle, and some spanx before you’ll even catch me on the picture taking side of any electronic device these days).

It was cute.

Quaint.

Functional but still spacious.

AND. THE. VIEW.

It sat on a hill, about 1/8 mile off the highway.

The front and side were hayfields.

You could see FOR MILES.

And this place was my #2.

We went to the second location (you know.... the one I was SO EXCITED for?)

It was the exact opposite.

Those fish-eye lenses are deceiving y’all.

The ponds weren't as clear as they looked in the camera.

It was a paved road, alright but it went about 50 feet, straight up (good luck driving that when it ices over in the winter).

And that view of the land on the listing..... I'm not sure where they took it from, cause I just didn't see it.

We could clear out some trees (I'll admit, the view would have been pretty good if it wasn't so tree covered), completely tore out the house and custom built a new home, built a shop, a she shed, a lap pool... and we would have EXACTLY what we wanted and still be within our budget cause the land was a steel.

And the Longhorn cattle were TO DIE FOR.

But...

It would take YEARS to turn it into what we wanted.

While my also ran definitely needed some work, the base of what we wanted was already there.

All the way home, we couldn’t stop talking about that Rock House, with the white walls, and salt & pepper shaker accents.

We could see ourselves there.

Just living life.

Having friends over.

Having kids and grandkids over.

Making money doing what we love, and loving what we were doing.

It was 30 minutes from Tulsa.

Less than 30 minutes from two other major cities.

About 40 minutes from my parents.

It had everything we were looking for.

You know what it didn’t have?

Cabled internet.
