Oh my gosh, y'all.
It's. Been. A. Week.
All the Inspections on the Rock House were completed! Things are moving right along and our close date has been moved up to the day before Thanksgiving!
Yay!
Also... what was I thinking!?!?!
LOL!
It will work out good though. The 'Rents are coming for Thanksgiving dinner, and hopefully we can take them by to see it on their way home.
Thanksgiving Dinner is planned... nothing fancy - we've hosted Thanksgiving since our Daughter was born, and the menu doesn't change much.
Turkey (that my husband smokes - he'll spend about 2 days on that bird, brining it, then smoking it all night. It's by far the star of the show.)
Stuffing (the cornbread kind you get in a box)
Mashed Potatoes
Turkey gravy (I make mine by opening a jar and heating it in a mini crock)
Crock Pot Green Beans with Butter (open a large can of green beans... dump it in a crock pot... add 1-2 TBS of butter and salt. Cook on low for at least 4 hours) FYI - this is a recipe I got from a dear friend in OKC; it has became family favorite and weekly staple in our house.
Canned Jellied Cranberry Sauce that will be elegantly displayed on a Fine China dish complete with fancy butter spoon for serving
My Grandma Joe's Candied Sweet Potatoes (can of sweet potatoes, sprinkle brown sugar and butter on top. Top with Marshmallows and bake at 350 for approx. 30 minutes or until potatoes are warm and marshmallows are toasty
Hawaiian Rolls (these come from a bag too y'all. You know the ones.)
Steamed carrots with butter, dill, and lemon
Hot Wassail with Dark Rum (it's a crock pot recipe too)
Mom is bringing a salad.
I might make a pie from Skratch*.
I think my daughter wants to make a pumpkin cheesecake.
Literally the only thing I spend time on making is the mashed potatoes. Pretty much everything else is either in crock pots, heated up in the microwave, or made by boiling water.
What can I say... I'd rather visit with the fam, watch the parade & some football, and plan my Black Friday Shopping.
*In case you don't know what Skratch is, it's Okie Country for I bought it, took it out of the container, and put it in a pretty dish so no one would know it came from a store.
